Just two small hills keep apart the villages of Glinado and Agersani. Only 7 km from the main town of the island, passing through the village of Glinado, you will reach the village of gersani, a community with nearly 1000 inhabitants. The village has taken its name from a small church outside the village, named Agios Arsenios.
It is bedecked with the church of St. Spiridonas, which has been built the last few years, the old temple of St. Nkolaos, the school, old warehouses, beautiful in their simple ness small houses and traditionally paved streets.
Just a little bit outside the village, the monastery of St. Johns regally celebrates on the 29th of August and westwards is the temple of Agios Panteleimonas, which's name day is the biggest festival during the summer.
On the south hill, there are ruins of an old fortress, which today is named "Helliniko"; on the northwest of the village there is the district of "Petradia", with samples of ancient hamlets and the church of St. George, built on the ruins of an old temple, probably Hyra's, where from the area has taken its name (Yria).
